Where to stay

The right place to stay for a Corbett safari depends more on which safari zone your permit is for than on any star rating. Forest rest houses inside the reserve are booked through the forest department alongside your permit, basic by design, but inside the core zone at dawn and dusk.

• Inside the reserve - forest rest houses (Budget, fixed forest-department tariff): Basic rooms, limited electricity. Booked with your safari permit, not a hotel platform. Books out first for peak dates.
• Dhikuli & Garjia corridor (Mid-range to luxury): The main resort corridor a few minutes from the Amdanda/Bijrani gates - widest choice of properties, shortest transfer time.
• Ramnagar town (Budget to mid-range): Functional town-centre hotels, useful for train/bus connections and last-minute or budget stays.
• Kaladhungi & Mohan side (Mid-range): Quieter approach on the western side of the reserve, closer to the Garjia and Phato zone gates.
