About & visitor rules

Established in 1936 as India's first national park, Corbett anchors Project Tiger, launched here in 1973. It spans 1,288 km² (core and buffer) across 8 safari zones in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. This guide is maintained independently by the Jim Corbett Visitor Guide editorial team and is not the official Corbett Tiger Reserve website.

Permits & entry (indicative)

• Indian nationals, full jeep (up to 6): Rs 4,000-7,500 / safari
• Foreign nationals: Several times the Indian tariff
• Canter seat (Dhikala only): Rs 2,500-2,800 / person
• Shifts: Morning & afternoon

Safari rules

1. Remain inside the vehicle at all times within the core zone.
2. Maintain a minimum distance of 30 metres from wildlife.
3. No littering, no loud noise, no flash photography near animals.
4. Entry only through the assigned gate and shift.
5. Plastic bottles and single-use plastic are not permitted inside the park.
